The role

International Humanitarian Law (IHL) is a set of rules which seek, for humanitarian reasons, to limit the effects of armed conflict. The dissemination and implementation of IHL is a key priority for Australian Red Cross and a crucial part of the unique mandate of all 190 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies around the world. The Adviser will promote greater understanding of IHL amongst the humanitarian and medical professions as groups who work in environments that necessitate a knowledge of IHL; and as influencers on law and policy related to humanitarian and IHL issues within Australia.

About you

Strategically minded with a creative approach towards engaging stakeholders, you have strong operational experience within the humanitarian field, preferably within the Movement. A natural communicator, you have had success developing new strategies and opportunities and enjoy using your diplomatic, persuasive to build effective working relationships. You enjoy training and presenting and have a good understanding of international humanitarian law and the humanitarian sector.
